Luxer One's Commitment to Community: Supporting Hurricane Relief & Fighting Hunger

At Luxer One, our dedication to innovation extends beyond delivering exceptional locker solutions; it encompasses a profound commitment to the communities we serve. Recently, we organized two significant initiatives aimed at providing relief and support to those in need: a canned food drive in Charlotte, North Carolina, benefiting victims of Hurricane Helene, and an ongoing drive in Sacramento, California, supporting the River City Food Bank’s mission to combat hunger.

Charlotte: Aiding Hurricane Helene Victims

In late September 2024, Hurricane Helene unleashed unprecedented devastation across western North Carolina, particularly in the Appalachian region. The storm resulted in catastrophic flooding, landslides, and widespread destruction of infrastructure, leading to over 100 fatalities and displacing thousands of residents. The economic impact was staggering, with damages estimated at over $53 billion, marking it as the deadliest and most costly storm in the state’s history.

In response to this crisis, our Charlotte team initiated a month-long canned food drive to support those affected by the hurricane. Our amazing Luxens banded together to collect and donate a total of 930 non-perishable food items. These contributions were distributed to families and individuals in the hardest-hit areas, providing much-needed nourishment during their recovery.

Sacramento: Supporting River City Food Bank

Simultaneously, our Sacramento team launched a two-week drive to support the River City Food Bank (RCFB), a nonprofit organization dedicated to alleviating hunger in Sacramento County. Established in 1968, RCFB is the oldest continuously serving food bank in the region, providing healthy, meaningful food to anyone experiencing hunger. Last year, RCFB provided over 3 million pounds of food to 308,005 people, helping low-income families, seniors, and refugees.

Through the generosity of our employees and local partners, we raised $830 during the drive. These funds were directed toward purchasing canned foods, home essentials, and family necessities, supporting the RCFB’s impactful programs and ensuring that Sacramento’s most vulnerable residents receive the help they need.

Innovative Solutions: Harbor Lockers in Disaster Relief

Beyond these initiatives, Luxer One is exploring innovative ways to leverage our technology for community support. Our Harbor Lockers, which are completely Bluetooth-operated and require no external power source, present a unique solution for distributing donations in areas devastated by natural disasters.

In fact, these lockers were used by remote employees to send contributions to the canned food drive in Charlotte to be easily collected via app and added to the weekly distributions. These lockers can be rapidly deployed to provide secure, accessible points for distributing essential supplies, even in locations without reliable power infrastructure.

Organizations such as FEMA could utilize Harbor Lockers to streamline relief efforts, ensuring that aid reaches those in need efficiently and securely. Supplies can be sent to reach both volunteers and those in need.
